I am an associate professor of political science at Syracuse University, a senior research associate at the Campbell Public Affairs Institute, and the Fortunato Priore Endowed Faculty Fellow in Civic Engagement. My research focuses on how people learn about the political world. I am particularly interested in understanding what people get wrong about politics and policy, and how correcting these misperceptions can shape attitudes and behavior.
In 2024, I published two books: The Invented State: Policy Misperceptions in the American Public and How News Coverage of Misinformation Shapes Perceptions and Trust.
